The morning we visited Tiananmen Square it rained hard and I had to quickly snap pictures huddled under one of the thousands of umbrellas in the square. Here is the Monument to the People's Heroes. It is made of granite and the poem "The People's Heroes are Immortal" written by Mao Zedong is engraved on it. Behind it is the Great Hall of the People (where the National People's Congress meets).
