Drum Tower. Info from plaque:

Drum Tower

Drum, also called the earthly sound, is worshipped as a magical instrument with supernatural power. It is mainly used in the sacrificial ceremony. As a musical instrument in a Buddhist mass, the drum along with the bell serves as the command in the monasteries. The monks' daily routines were measured by the sounds of the drum and bell.

According to the Scripture, the drum in Renlitianshan Temple rang automatically. Those who heard the sound would fear the evil and conceive the good. The drum is, therefore, also called the "Heavenly Drum", which metaphorically refers to those who believe in Buddhism and who are capable of conceiving the good. Preaching in Buddhism is often compared to beating a Buddhist drum which roars like a lion. These anecdotes indicate the importance of the drum in the monasteries.
