Solar eclipse of July 22, 2009
We viewed the total solar eclipse from Anqing instead of our originally-planned Suzhou because of rain in Suzhou. We got on a charter bus at 2 AM to drive for six hours to Anqing where the weather maps indicated that we might have clearer skies. We did but not clear enough to see totality. We did experience the sudden onset of night and the just as rapid return to daylight. Here are my best pictures of the eclipse before and after totality. I also took video of the surroundings during the onset of totality and return to daylight. I'll get that posted sometime in the future.
